Bringing Comfort Home: Budget Blinds’ Touch in Veteran’s Grove
This past April, The Budget Blinds of Harrisburg, Hershey, & Carlisle Team had the incredible opportunity to work with the Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania (VOPA). VOPA helps homeless veterans by providing them with homes where they can take time to heal. This idea turned into Veteran’s Grove, a community with 15 small homes and a central building for offering help and services.
After hearing about the project from our installer, Mike Reardon, we knew we had to help. We proudly provided 80 window treatments — 45 aluminum blinds and 35 roller shades — at cost. Our window treatments will make these tiny houses feel like real homes, giving the veterans privacy, safety, & comfort.
When we spoke to Mike Reardon, a leader at VOPA, he thought they would need to install the window treatments themselves. But we told him we'd do more than just give the products; we'd also give our time. Along with our neighboring franchises - Budget Blinds of Dillsburg, Chambersburg, Gettysburg and Budget Blinds of Mechanicsburg we agreed to donate our time to install the window treatments.
Our team of 11 installed 80 window treatments in just three hours, showing how much we can do when we work together. As Veterans Grove gets ready to open, we at Budget Blinds of Harrisburg, Hershey, and Carlisle are proud to have helped. It feels good to make sure our veterans have a nice place they can call home.
