How To Support Your Local Veterans
Let's face it, we've got a lot on our minds this year. It has been pretty hectic and we've all gone through a tremendous amount in the last while. It's for this reason that we should be extra proud to celebrate our veterans. On November 11th we have an opportunity to formally thank and remember the men and women who went through an ordeal that makes our troubles seem trivial. We appreciate the sacrifice that was made to keep our world protected then and now. Below are a few ways we can support our local veterans:
Veteran’s Food Bank Association
The Veterans Association Food Bank, which recently opened in Edmonton, is operated by veterans. The shop has set up at 17218 107 Ave with the goal of providing food hampers and more for military veterans and their families.
The association’s motto is “Veterans helping veterans.”
100 percent of donations go directly to the food bank and its programs which include providing food hampers, peer support, gift cards, weekly meetings, intake support, VAC claims, medical referrals, training programs and a Tuesday soup night.
At the moment, the food bank takes financial donations and non-perishable food donations. They will be accepting perishables in the future once they get a cooler or freezer.
They recently received a donation to upgrade the flooring in the new facility!
Donations are accepted at the location as well as on its website at www.veteransassociationfoodbank.ca or by calling 403-367-8387.
St. Albert’s Courageous Companions

Courageous Companions is a 100% volunteer driven organization that aims to increase the quality of life for our brave men and women who serve. Service Dogs are provided at no cost.
