Tiny House Master Plan (THMP)

An exciting project is going on in our town that will inspire Canadians from coast to coast! A team of NAIT students, Edmonton professionals, and local Alberta companies have come together for an inspiring project called the Tiny House Master Plan (THMP). Together the THMP participants and partners will design, build, tour, and then give away a state-of-the-art tiny home. WHY? The THMP is all about education, teaching sustainable living, and inspiring social change.  Wow, this tiny house is a big deal!

In February of this 2021 our company, Budget Blinds Edmonton & St. Albert, was asked to participate in the THMP, and Rob and I couldn’t be more thrilled!  Our company is a leader in bringing environmentally-friendly ‘green’ window coverings and smart home technology products to the market. And that’s what we’ll do for the THMP project with smart home lighting, sound, and window covering products designed specifically for this powerful tiny house.

In March Rob and I met with the THMP visionary and project manager, Kenton Zerbin, and his team to check out the framing for the THMP, and to talk about how our products would fit into the overall design. It was fun and exciting to learn from Kenton (a passionate Edmonton-area teacher of sustainable living and tiny home construction) and become part of the THMP story. Our meeting with Kenton was filmed (as is everything to do with the THMP) to be added to a locally produced show that is available for viewing on multiple social channels. Check out Tiny House Master Plan content on YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, and Facebook.

It is important to note that the majority of the work on the THMP (including filming, designing production, marketing and social media) is being done by NAIT students. This fact is one of the major reasons Rob and I chose to become a sponsor and supplier for the THMP.  Not only did the two of us meet at NAIT (first day of class in September 1998), we simply couldn’t turn down this great opportunity to support our community and alma mater.

Once built the tiny house and the THMP show will continue to teach and inspire as it journeys across Canada. That’s right! The THMP is home but it is also a portable concert and workshop venue that will provide education and entertainment as it travels to 16 major Canadian cities on a cross-country tour.  At the end of the tour, the fully-equipped tiny house will be given away to one very lucky winner! Go to www.thetinyhousemasterplan.com to see tour dates, to sign-up to attend a tiny home construction workshop led by Kenton himself, and to enter to win the tiny house (of course 😉 )!
