I Will Improve My Home’s Insulation and Performance!
This one is a great goal, especially here in Arizona! Insulating your house now before the summer hits will save you a ton on cooling, and come winter will save you money there too! We shouldn’t leave the whole job up to your windows! So if this is your resolution here’s what you should look for to optimize your home’s insulation and comfort.
General Insulation
- Insulate all piping exposed outside
- Insulate your hot water tank with an insulation blanket
Doors
- Install weatherstripping along your door
- Use a door sweep for extra insulation
Windows
- Find air leaks and seal them with caulking
- Use window coverings to better insulate the windows (we talk about this a lot!)
Roofing
- Replace missing or damaged shingles
Outdoor landscape
- Tend to your external air conditioners
- If your deck needs it, seal it before the wet winter ruins it completely
