Fabric Roman Shades - Everything to Know
Fabric Roman shades (and other variants) are an absolute classic of window coverings, for many people they’re the first and last shade they go for. We get questions about these all the time and so we wanted to answer the most common questions folks Google for when it comes to fabric Roman shades. This time on the Budget Blinds Scottsdale blog - Everything You Ever Searched Google for about Fabric Roman Shades! We’ll work on that title later!
Are Fabric Roman Shades Out of Style?
Of course not! Roman shades are a timeless classic! Now the pattern on the fabric can age but the style of window covering? Forget about it!
Why Are Fabric Roman Shades So Expensive?
While ‘expensive’ might be up for debate, roman shades can run you a bit more than other window coverings for one main reason: their custom fit. The way roman shades work is by sitting tightly inside the window frame, measured to those exact dimensions. Some windows might have an odd shape which will make the cost a bit higher. But again, they don’t have to be expensive – that's why we’re Budget Blinds!
Are Roman Shades Good?
An easy one! Yes, roman shades are great! Next question!
Can Roman Shades Be Too Long?
Sure, that could happen if you tried to buy roman shades elsewhere and install them in your own windows. That’s why (amongst other reasons) you should work with professional installers like Budget Blinds! We make sure roman shades are the exact right shape, length, and width for your windows to provide the exact right coverage you need, no more - no less.
What’s the Difference Between Roller Shades and Roman Shades?
Good question! For many folks roller shades and roman shades are the same things – this is incorrect! While they are both fabric window shades the method by which they are raised and lowered is different making them different types of shades! Roller shades will be raised and roll along with a cylinder at the top of the window frame. Roman shades are made to fold as they are raised.
Should Roman Shades Be Outside or Inside Mounted?
Window shades should only ever be mounted outside of the window frame if the frame itself is too shallow to mount in, or if there is some component to the window that sticks out like a hand crank that would get in the way of the shades. So, the short of it is roman shades should be mounted inside the frame. The long of it, if there’s a reason they have to be mounted outside, that’s ok too!
Phew, that was a lot of questions! Hopefully, these answered any lingering doubts you had about roman shades. Want to know more about how fabric roman shades can be your window covering solution? Give us a call and schedule your free consultation! Larry and Steve are standing by to help!
