Toni Parkhurst of Budget Blinds of Fairfield & Vacaville is the recipient of a Budget Blinds Heart & Home Giving Back Award for her service to the Fairfield/Vacaville/Rio Vista community on behalf of her franchise, per a news release.
The award is given annually to a Budget Blinds franchisee ” who best embodies the brand’s long-term commitment to caring and giving-back to local communities and individual lives through financial support, volunteerism and ongoing partnership,” according to the release.
The award was presented by Budget Blinds President Doug Phillip at the 2020 Bring it Home convention for Budget Blinds franchisees.
“The Heart & Home Giving Back Award represents the essence of what Budget Blinds does as a home improvement and home enhancement brand,” Phillip said in a statement. “We want to be there to care for our customers whenever they need us, and to help them transform their house into the home of their dreams.”
Parkhurst, a Vacaville resident, was given the award for her work with the Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, which houses 125 patients in long-term and memory care as well as short-term rehabilitation. Parkhurst has visited convalescent homes in her area along with her family and staff for the last four years to spend time with residents, offer gifts and be in charge of seasonal activities.
“I was very close to my grandmother who lived to be 96 so I have a soft spot for the elderly,” Parkhurst said in a statement. “They are such amazing souls who have so much we can learn from, but they are often forgotten and many times neglected. Adopting the residents of homes in our area as…both a family and business seemed like such a natural thing to do – and we continue to gain so much from the experience.”
Parkhurst was proud of the work she and her staff have done.
“Linking our personal charitable mission to our business allows us to involve our customers and neighbors to impact more lives,” Parkhurst added. “We’ve also found that giving back brings us closer as a team and strengthens our roots within our community. Budget Blinds of Fairfield & Vacaville has grown simply by committing our time and effort to the very community we serve.”
Budget Blinds is the largest window covering business in North America, serving more than 10,000 communities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The other two franchisees honored were Dawn Cameron of Medicine Hat, Alberta; and Adam and Tara Balding of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Both were recipients of the Budget Blinds Cares Award, which honors franchisees who have demonstrated volunteerism and public service.
