Why Budget Blinds of Ottawa East

We are the owners and design consultants for Budget Blinds of Ottawa East and of Ottawa West and Nepean. We spent the last 20 years of our lives working with International Schools overseas. We worked in many countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bolivia, Peru, Oman, and Ivory Coast. It was an excellent life and we carry with us many wonderful memories. However, we always shared two dreams. The first one was of someday coming back to Canada to set some roots for our children Kaleigh and Rafael, and give them the opportunity to finish high school in Ottawa. The second dream was to own our own business.

Once we were settled in Ottawa and in our new house, we needed blinds, so we contacted several companies and all of them were very busy and couldn’t come and visit us for two to three weeks. The quotes we received shocked us! Then, one day Peter was driving around Ottawa and he saw a Budget Blinds van. He took a photo of the van to get the telephone number, called them, and was more than pleased with the professionalism and quoted price.

That left us thinking about that particular franchise. We contacted Budget Blinds headquarters and from that moment on, the information they provided convinced us more and more that this was the business we wanted. We started talking with franchisees and they only had great things to say about the franchise and the business itself.

This was an opportunity we could not pass up! So, we bought Budget Blinds of Ottawa in September 2020 and started to be part of this wonderful experience with the #1 window coverings franchise in North America.

Shelley Coussin is the Design Consultant for Budget Blinds of Ottawa, and she brings mountains of experience to the table. Shelly holds over 25 years in customer service based sales in the Cosmetic Industry, and has spent the last three years with the Budget Blinds of Ottawa franchise. Although originally a resident of Toronto, she has fallen in love with the laid back atmosphere and outdoor oriented activities of Ottawa. Shelly loves skiing and cycling (specifically along the Ottawa River), and you will find her in frequent attendance at the many outdoor music festivals held in Ottawa. Shelly’s experience and passion for her position make her a perfect fit as Design Consultant at Budget Blinds of Ottawa.

Matthew has been with Budget Blinds for two years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He is a father of four and has a background in carpentry and first response. He has built houses all around the Ottawa area over the past years, taught first aid with the Ottawa Paramedic Service. He has also been the Patrol Leader for the Canadian Ski Patrol at Mont Cascades and also run and managed the operations of a sleep awy camp in the Northern Quebec. His has a friendly nature and attention to detail. He is an asset to us.
