There are so many ways to do honeycomb/cellular shades! This is another way that is not as common but equally as effective. Having the blind mounted on the trim rather than inside the sill accomplishes a few things: 1. It allows for narrower gaps in between the shades (aligned with the mullions as always) 2. It creates even more privacy and light control (since it overlaps onto the wall slightly on each side) 3. It allows the shades to be mounted on a window that has sills that are not well suited to having blinds installed (bevelled sills or sills less than ¾” in depth). This bank of windows is absolutely beautiful, but it presents a unique challenge: how do you keep the glare and heat to a minimum without losing the effect of the windows and your view? Solar shades are absolutely the answer in this case. They have a modern streamlined look and are made of a screen-like fabric that blocks UV rays but allows for a view through them. This client opted for two large shades in a reverse-roll style with no valance for the most modern and streamlined look possible, but you can also dress them up with a valance or drapery.
