Window Coverings are Essential to a Complete Home Renovation
According to statistics, in both Canada and the United States, the average person moves every five years. That helps to explain the proliferation of TV home improvement shows dedicated to selling, buying, renovating and flipping properties. The “How To’s,” “What Not to Do’s,” and expert advice on home renovation, preservation and design fill hours of airtime with valuable information that is consumed by millions of people every day.
One of the most popular and entertaining home improvement shows in all of North America is Buying & Selling with the Property Brothers. The Property Brothers, Jonathan and Drew Scott, are experts when it comes to moving families, and each week on Buying & Selling, they assist one more family in transitioning to a new home. Jonathan handles the renovation of the existing home, getting it ready for Drew to sell, while Drew concentrates on finding a new family home, accommodating wish lists, budget constraints and location demands.
Selling by design with Budget Blinds®
For a quick sale, the brothers continually stress the need for a modern, updated style to get top dollar in today’s real estate market. Properly staged rooms with modern colour schemes, unique design features and less furniture create more “ahhh” appeal to keep potential buyers interested and exploring when they come through the front door.
Budget Blinds brings in that “ahhh” factor with beautiful window treatments we select from our manufacturing partners–Springs Window Fashions® for custom drapes, Shade-O-Matic® for blinds, and Rowley® for ready-made drapery panels and decorative drapery hardware. For three seasons partnering with Buying and Selling, Budget Blinds’ trendy and stylish window coverings have helped transform homes with tantalizing textures, vibrant colours and classic elegance that make it easy for a buyer to imagine themselves in the home.
Simone and Craig: Downtown Family Home
Living in the suburbs has lost its charm for Simone and Craig and they’re ready to go back downtown to cut commuting time and have more time for family and living the good life. But as they have evolved, their home has not and it’s mired in a 1990s uninspiring brown colour scheme that needs updating before they’ll be able to sell at a price to afford a move downtown. Jonathan gets busy with an overall facelift to peel 20 years off the house and Drew is challenged with finding new downtown space that isn’t either too underwhelming in size or location or too overpriced for the couple’s budget.
Mark Bateman franchise owner of Budget Blinds serving Vaughan, provided the expert measuring and installation for the window coverings, bringing sumptuous texture and colour to the home.
Dining room: with updated colours and smaller-scale furniture, the dining room appears larger and roomier. Shades of gray and white in furniture and accessories create a crisp, cool neutral palette. Budget Blinds installed Silk Essentials drapes in Sterling Gray on a contrasting matte black curtain rod, framing the large window with elegant functionality.
Living Room: the living room livened up with new flooring, soft gray walls, and white ceiling and trim. Fabric upholstered modern furniture in blues and grays with bright, eclectic patterned pillows replaced the leather and wicker furniture for a cozier atmosphere. Sterling Gray Essential Silks drapery panels dressed all the living room windows, coordinating seamlessly with the adjoining dining room.
Master Bedroom: this extremely dark room became resplendent with soft gray walls, white ceiling, and bright blue accessories. Patterned rugs defined sleeping and seating areas, giving the room two focal points and a feeling of spaciousness. To see the entire renovation, click here.
Ryan and Lesley: Elegant Reno
For Ryan and Lesley’s blended family, three plus two equals massive overcrowding! The “Man Cave” house Ryan shared with his two boys needs to be traded up to a new, larger family home that will reflect the woman’s touch that Lesley brings. A major kitchen and bath overhaul stretch the renovation budget, and whole home updating keep Jonathan hard at work. Drew, however, takes time out for a fun firefighter’s fitness challenge with Ryan. His other not-so-fun challenge is helping the couple decide on size or location as the most important factor for their new home.
Karen Tsao-Pemberton, franchise owner of Budget Blinds serving Southeast Toronto, expertly measured and professionally installed custom faux wood blinds and drapery panels in the following living spaces:
Living room: Out with the heavy, over-sized furniture and in with fresh modern pieces in trendy white and gray colours. The front windows are enhanced with faux wood blinds in Ecru, paired with Essential Linens drapery panels in a deep, elegant Charcoal colour on Satin Nickel curtain rods. The patterned rug defines the space and anchors the room.
Dining room/kitchen: A wall came down to open up the kitchen/dining room into a continuous open space adjoining the living room. The entire area is colour-coordinated in interesting textures and patterns in white and gray tones, ranging from pale to dark. The dining room patio doors duplicate the living room’s Essential Linens drapery panels in Charcoal on Satin Nickel rods for added cohesiveness.
Master bedroom: This room was reinvented with all new furnishings, including an upholstered headboard, modern art pieces, new lighting fixtures and lamps, and Woven Textures drapery panels in a Wheat colour framing and softening the windows. Yellow and green accessories contrast with the neutral grays and metallic touches to create a restful atmosphere. See the rest of the house and the extensive kitchen makeover by clicking here.
