Trending Window Fashions Highlighted on the Marc & Mandy Show

With spring in full swing and summer just around the corner, thoughts naturally turn to home decorating trends and fashions. Just as nature annually renews her beauty each spring in crystal blue skies, shades-of-green foliage and flowers in riotous colors, we want to renew and refresh our surroundings as well. One of the easiest ways to refresh and update a home is with stylish new window coverings. You can instantly change the dynamic of a room with blinds, shutters, shades, curtains or drapes to give a whole new look!

During May, Budget Blinds® returned for two guest appearances on Canada’s Saturday morning Marc & Mandy show to talk about current home decorating trends for 2016 and the latest in innovative window fashion design. Every week, this charismatic husband-and-wife team engages over two million viewers on lifestyle subjects touching on all areas of life, including home, fun, food, travel and fashion. As the largest retail window coverings franchise in North America, Budget Blinds is a natural fit for the popular show, for, as Mandy says, “There are always fabulous and fun new trends in the world of window fashions.

Expanding on the March show’s emphasis on child safety in window coverings, May’s appearances focused on the hottest trends for dressing your windows, featuring Tracy Christman, Budget Blinds’ fashionista and Design Expert, and Sue Swarbrick, professional Style Consultant and franchise owner of Budget Blinds serving Southwest Manitoba.

Trend Spotting with Tracy Christman

Tracy Christman travels the world to ensure that Budget Blinds stays on the cutting edge of what’s trending in fashion and home décor. A global flavor continues to infuse fashion with interesting textures, patterns and colors that create exciting results. Tracy introduced three trends that can help you update your home with styles to make you smile.

  • Metallics and natural textures are reflected in everything from wallpaper to window coverings. Shiny and burnished surfaces combine with leather, cowhide and weathered finishes to add dimension and interest in home furnishings.
  • Naturals and bright colors are in, including royal blue, pinks and orange, guaranteed to make a fashion statement. Colorful window treatments can add particular style, as Tracy explains: “Windows are no longer just windows; they are the art of the whole room.”
  • Black is back with a prominent look in furniture, geometric designs or dimensional touches. Black accents on window treatments are a beautiful addition to any room.

Drapery and window trends

Sue Swarbrick joined Mandy on May 14 to introduce Budget Blinds’ exclusive, new Inspired ShadesTM collection. This collection includes roller shades in over 80 original, contemporary prints, textures and colors, as well as stunning natural woven shades of the finest fibers of hemp, jute, kenaf and flax for unequaled softness, finesse and elegance. The Budget Blinds team of experts brings these designs direct to the consumer, the “farm-to-table” approach, overseeing every step in design and production for exacting high quality in every window covering.

Sue demonstrates how a patterned blackout roller shade could be softened by layering with drapery panels for a finishing touch. (Mandy pointed out that blackout shades are the perfect solution for any resident vampires who hate light sneaking in!)

  • A second light-filtering shade in a bold print showed how your windows can add drama and wall art in any room, singly or combined with curtains.
  • Both shades exhibited child-safe operation, with a tassel pull on the blackout shade and remote control motorization on the light-filtering shade. As a new mom, Mandy was impressed.

Sue added some extra special excitement by presenting everyone in the audience with a lovely swag bag from budget Blinds, woven jute and containing a custom tumbler, design guides, a Lookbook and a coupon! See the beautiful shades and listen in by clicking here for the episode.
