At Budget Blinds, we pride ourselves on being up-to-date on the latest trends and offerings to ensure we are providing our customers the very best, current designs to be relevant and seasonal. When a year comes to a close, fellow fashion designers, home furnishing experts, industrial design companies and other industries hold tight waiting for the big announcement: What will be the color of the next year? For 20 years, Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries once announced.
The Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. According to the Pantone website,
To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.
And this year’s color is, (drumroll, please) . . .
PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral
The Pantone website describes this light, pretty color as “An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge”.
They go on to describe the color as one that “...emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color”.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the PANTONE Color Institute was quoted saying,
Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities, and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord.
We are excited about this fresh new color for the New Year and have a lot of ideas of how we will weave it into our home furnishing offerings at Budget Blinds.
