Monthly New Year's Resolutions
A new decade is around the corner! Have you started making new year’s resolutions yet? Instead of making resolutions for the whole year, try monthly resolutions instead. We have created a list of resolutions for you below.
January: Unplug
In this technology-driven world, the amount of time we spend on devices, both for work and personal use, is astounding. Make a resolution to schedule at least one hour of time each day away from all devices and fill that space with something else. Do a puzzle or play a game with your kids. Cook with your spouse. Take the family out for ice cream. Get coffee with a friend and leave your phone in your pocket. Schedule time for self-care. Whatever you want to do!
If you’re up for the challenge, start with one hour the first week of January and increase time away from your phone each week; two hours the second week, three hours the third week, and four hours the fourth week.
February: Drink More Water
In the colder months, it’s easy to forget to stay hydrated because we aren’t spending as much time outside in the sun. It is recommended to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water, but how many of us actually do that? Make that your goal this month!
March: Save Money
In March, try to save a bit of money to put towards something you’ve wanted to do but keep putting off. Examples might be updating your window treatments, buying a new piece of furniture, or a summer activity with family or friends! It doesn’t have to be a lot either. Take a look at your expenses and try to find a couple places you could cut back on or things you don’t use anymore.
April: Spring Cleaning
Add cleaning your blinds to your list of spring cleaning to-dos! We have a great blog that outlines how to clean each type of blind and cleaning without damage. Save the blog as a bookmark on your phone or computer so you don’t forget in April!
May: Get Cooking
Spring is a great time to start cooking more! Make it a goal to try a new recipe each week. If you need inspiration, Pinterest can help!
June: Get Outside
Getting outside has many health benefits, including reducing stress! Whether you want to be active outside or sit and enjoy the weather, make a goal of getting 30-60 minutes of time outside each day.
July: Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Is there something you’ve been wanting to try for awhile, but haven’t because you either don’t have time or you are too scared to go for it? Grab a friend and do it this month! Need a few ideas? Take a painting class. Go rock climbing. Try a new exercise class. Go indoor skydiving (or real skydiving if you’re adventurous!). Try a new food cuisine, the opportunities are endless!
August: Room Makeover
Have you been putting off redecorating a room in your home? Maybe it’s starting to look outdated or you’re ready to try a new color palette. We recommend starting with smaller items that can make a big difference (while being budget-friendly). Schedule a free in-home consultation with Budget Blinds to learn about window treatment options, area rugs, or stunning new linens!
September: Exercise
It’s nice to have healthy habits in place before the fall and winter seasons roll around. Start by adding 30-minutes of exercise to your routine just a few days per week. Don’t be afraid to try a new workout style that you might love!
October: Encourage Others
Pick one person per week to send some encouragement to. Give them a call, send a text, write a card, or surprise them with an emailed gift card. Just sprinkle some extra encouragement on someone who needs it.
November: Prep for Winter
November is an ideal time to winterize your home before the temperatures drop too much. We recommend getting energy efficient window treatments before winter to help save on your energy bill. Approximately up to 50% of your home’s heat is lost through poorly insulated windows. Budget Blinds has many options that can help with this, including window film, shades, drapes, and more.
December: Give Back
The holidays are a great time to give back to an organization you care about or helping someone in need. It doesn’t have to be much, but going out of your way to help someone not only makes you feel great, but it meets the need of someone else.
Be sure to find us on social media and tell us what your resolutions are. We’d love to hear them!
