Why Budget Blinds of Urbandale

Kurt was born and raised in Omaha. After graduating from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, he moved to Chicago where he lived for 27 years, working for a global digital advertising agency. Kurt and John have known eachother for over 35 years, and when John offered Kurt the chance to move home and join his company, he jumped at the opportunity. Kurt is enjoying growing the company and serving their customers. He prides himself on honest and open communication and making sure the customers are thrilled with the products and services we provide. 

A native of Omaha, John spent over 30 years in the restaurant industry before buying his first territory in 2013. Since then, the business has grown to include 4 terriortories and covers the entire Metro Omaha area including Council Bluffs in addition to Lincoln. John currently serves on the board for Nebraska CASA Association, a network of 22 local programs in Nebraska serving 54 counties, who recruit, screen, train and support Court Appointed Special Advocates. Those advocates are volunteers, who are appointed by a judge to speak for the well-being of abused and neglected children. Budget Blinds of Omaha & Lincoln donates a portion of every residentail sale to CASA annually. 

Detail, coordination, and completeness.  All are critical aspects of any project delivery in the AEC industry that Adam has spent years focusing on as a project manager, lighting designer, and practicing electrical engineer on many K-12 and higher education projects across the country.  Adam brings these skills to Budget Blinds of Omaha as well as Veil engineered shading to design and deliver industry-leading automated shading systems with his twin brother Ben. His goal: To redefine what it means to properly design, build, and commission an intelligent shading system in modern buildings. 

An advocate of thoughtful and purpose-driven design, Ben focuses on improving the status quo and delivering novel solutions to his clients. Ben has a wide array of experience with nearly a decade as a mechanical engineer specializing in healthcare and large venue design through numerous methods of project delivery. Ben brings his experience to Budget Blinds of Omaha and Veil engineered shading alongside his twin brother Adam - offering a first-of-its-kind solution to shading design and construction.

Today, we’re going to highlight one of the amazing team members who works here at our Ames location! Dana Albright is a highly skilled Design Consultant who brings over 22 years of experience as an interior designer to our team. She started with us in July of 2020—and we’ve discovered that she’s passionate about helping customers choose the right products to enhance their space. She also loves the variety that her work here provides.

Originally from the suburbs of Des Moines, Dana now resides in Waukee. She has a lake house in Clear Lake, and she loves boating and fishing in her free time. Dana is also an avid workout enthusiast who practices Ferrell’s Kickboxing daily. In addition to her hobbies, she enjoys decorating, shopping, crafting, and spending time with friends and family.

Dana is happily married to her husband David, and she has two adult children, three grandchildren, and one furry companion—a dog named Berkley. She attended Drake University for Adult Education and Interior Design as well as an online interior decorating program. In 2001 and 2002, Dana was an award-winning Interior Designer at the DSM HBA Home Show.

With so many accomplishments under her belt, plus her wealth of design knowledge, Dana has been a joy to have around—and you’ll love working with her, too!

Kristy has an eye for design, and enjoys assisting customers through the selection process. She will walk you through the best options for you, based on your needs and style, and then help you select the colors and textures that will make your house feel more like your home! After the design process is complete, she'll return for the installation to make sure you're satisfied with your window treatments!
