Window Blinds, Shutters, and More - A Budget Blinds Primer Pt. 2

Welcome back to another entry here on the Budget Blinds of Scottsdale blog! Our basic primer on shutters, shades blinds for windows and more has run long so we decided to break it up into two parts. Last time we covered blinds and shutters (if you missed it simply go here!). This time we are going to carry on with that topic, looking at the kinds of shades and drapes Budget Blinds of Scottsdale has on offer and what makes each one unique. Remember these are brief overviews, if you would like to know more about them, visit their individual pages or better yet, give us a call and get a free in-home consultation to see just what we can do for you!

Now without further ado let’s get back into it!

Shades and Drapes - Your Budget Blinds Primer

Shades

Shades come in an amazing array of different types, from roller shades to bamboo, and everything in between. If you don’t like the look of shutters or blinds, (maybe you think they’re too bulky?) window shades might be just what you’re after. They all have roughly the same idea, a flat surface of fabric that can be pulled down to cover the window or raised, sometimes laying flat or sometimes rolling into a container

Roller Shades

Roller shades roll up at the top of the window, and are operated either by smart-pull, continuous-loop, or cordless lift controls.Thousands of different combinations of colors, styles, patterns, and opacity levels are available through Budget Blinds of Scottsdale. These are mounted either inside the window our outside the frame. Made with multiple control options they easily lower or raise to provide the total amount of light and privacy you are looking for.  Roller shades are a sleek, modern window covering option that bring any room up to date.

Pleated Shades

Pleated shades fold up like an according, rather than roll like roller shades. The 1” or 2” pleats allow for the shades to be stacked completely flat when closed, providing a completely obstruction-free view of your outdoors! You can get them in either top-down or bottom-up lift options to give you the exact shade you want.

Roman Shades

Roman shades are a classic shade for any home. They come in a range of fabrics, styles, and controls. The most common style are hobbled or soft fold, knife pleat, or flat fold.  These are a great choice if you want to bring the beauty of fabric into your decorating. You can even do them with matching accents like pillows and bedding.

Cellular Shades

Cellular shades, sometimes called honeycomb shades, are window coverings made out soft paper-like or cloth materials like spun lace. When raised, the cellular shades flatten out like normal blinds or shades, you might first confuse them with pleated shades in fact. When they are brought down to shade the room the special construction creates ‘cells’ between the fabric. These can be either light filtering or room darkening , but the real benefit is their insulating powers! By creating this space, the cell traps air, which creates a second barrier between the window and the room which can dramatically decrease the heat coming in your windows.

Woven Wood Shades

Woven wood shades bring an artisan-inspired approach to window coverings. Rattan reeds, grasses, and other natural woods woven together can create a casual and rustic ambience for your home. The shades are made from natural, eco-friendly materials that are as versatile as they are beautiful.

Bamboo Shades

A step further in the natural and wooden style are bamboo shades. These can be in a variety of different types, including Roman and flat styles. These are made up of 100% organic and eco-friendly materials sourced from around the globe (including Asia and the Far East). Bamboo shades can be customized to fit any type of window making them a great choice for awkward sizes. Pair these with a blackout liner and you’ll have it made in the shade!

Sheer Shades

Gently filter the sunlight and get all the privacy benefits of sheer window shades! Sheer shades reduce the amount of UV rays coming into your home and cut down drastically on glare, and they do so in an elegant way. Sheer shades tend towards the more neutral in look, meaning they can match any style!

Solar Shades

Solar shades are similar to other shades and blinds, and can be done in a few styles. What makes them them is the material they are made of. Solar shades have opacity levels that still allow for you to see through them, while diffusing the light. This means not only do you have less direct glare and harmful UV rays, but you also protect your  furniture and flooring from getting blasted by the light (which can cause cracking or fading).

Graphic Shades

These are exactly what they say on the tin, taking great Budget Blinds shades and then using advanced high-resolution printing tech to place clear, detailed images on them. Looking for something a bit more ‘fun’ to put in your rooms? Want to advertise your business in your office windows, graphic shades are the way to go.

Drapes

Drapes are another potential choice for window coverings. Drapes, panels, valances, all bring elegance to your room and can be paired with other blinds or shutters. Few window coverings can be as dramatic and bold as drapery. Budget Blinds has exclusive designer fabrics (imported from Italy no less!) that can create a special ambience you are searching for.

All that and there’s still more!  Most all of these styles can be customized in more ways than we can simply write here. That’s just the nature of it! Blinds and shades can be automated to open and close at certain hours or you can take total control on your smart device, you can select the fabric that most matches your styles, or the natural wood finish that you’ve been craving.

Despite being a very bare bones basic primer, it still may have been a bit overwhelming, we get it! If you have any questions or would like to get your free in-home consultation with Larry or Steve and see how Budget Blinds can revolutionize your home!
