Why Drapes in San Clemente Don’t Always Need to Reach the Floor

When you go shopping for drapes in San Clemente, you’ll find a lot on show will reach the floor. Even when you’re shopping online, the images show drapes that run from above the window all the way to the floor.

They do look good, but these types of drapes aren’t always practical or necessary. Here are three main factors to consider to make sure you need these drapes.

Do You Have Baseboard Heating?

How does the heat or air push around your home? Do you have those baseboard heaters that run along the bottom of the window? They tend to take up about two or three inches of space from the floor and up the wall, and always just underneath windows rather than around another part of the home.

If this is the case, the last thing you want is a set of drapes in San Clemente that reach the floor. You’re going to cover the baseboard heaters. The heat isn’t going to get into the home, and will instead cause problems around your windows and along the back of the drapes.

You want drapes that sit over the top of the baseboard heaters. They’re slightly shorter than the types of drapes you see.

Even if you don’t have baseboard heaters, you could find that the vents are in the way. You need to make sure you place the drapes in the right position to avoid problems getting heat and air into a room. Wouldn’t it be easier to have shorter drapes?

You Have Furniture That Gets in the Way of Drapes in San Clemente

When buying long drapes, many people will assume that you have nothing in front of the windows. Look at the way a lot of photos are staged. There is no furniture in front, allowing free access to the entire window. The drapes certainly look great, but they’re not practical for you.

Because of the layout of the room or your own preferences, you may have furniture in front of the windows. That furniture gets in the way of drapes, so you need something shorter.

You don’t need to completely rearrange your home for the drapes. Get drapes that work for your needs.

You Have Children or Pets That Like to Pull

Long drapes in San Clemente just aren’t practical for everyone. If you have children or pets, you may find you need to get rid of tempting window coverings. That means getting rid of the drapes that hang all the way to the floor.

Out of sight, out of mind. That is the general rule for safety with children and pets. If the drapes sit higher up, you’ll find it much easier to prevent small hands or paws pulling on the materials. This prevents the drapes being pulled down by mistake.

Just because you see photos of long drapes in San Clemente doesn’t mean you need them. There are a lot of different options available, and you just need to look at your living situation to determine if long or short will work best for you.
