Jen and Tony Kern
Owners, "We’re like the perfect pair of panels—Tony brings the tools, Jen brings the style, and together we bring the shade (and the shine)!"
Jen and Tony Kern are the heart behind Budget Blinds of Southern Indiana—a dynamic duo who bring warmth, professionalism, and a genuine love for their community into everything they do.
Married for over a decade, Jen and Tony are proud parents to three active boys—Jake, Cole, and Mitchell—and live in Floyds Knobs, where their home is always buzzing with family, pets, and a good game on TV. In fact, Sundays are a big deal in the Kern household, though it’s a house divided: Tony roots for the Green Bay Packers while Jen and the boys are loyal Miami Dolphins fans. Whether it's football season or not, they love spending time together watching games, laughing, and making memories.
Outside of their work with Budget Blinds (and their Two Maids franchise), the Kerns are deeply involved in the Southern Indiana community. Tony, a career attorney and accomplished marathon runner, brings focus, discipline, and endurance to the business. Jen is a retired Air Force and VA nurse whose natural leadership and compassion extend into her role as the manager of the Southern Indiana United Soccer Club—supporting young athletes and families across the region.
Their home life is lively and full of love—with two golden retrievers (Maddie, age 4, and her little brother Milo, the resident puppy), two cats, and a revolving door of family, friends, and neighbors who always know they’re welcome.
Jen and Tony are passionate about creating beautiful, functional spaces that feel like home. Through Budget Blinds, they’re proud to offer custom window treatments with personalized service—helping local families enhance their homes with style, comfort, and a little extra charm.
Whether you’re updating one room or reimagining your entire home, Jen and Tony are here to make sure the process feels easy, inspiring, and truly local.

Ashleigh Skaggs
Director of Marketing, "Blinds, drapes, and bold ideas—I’ve got you covered."
10
With over 25 years as a professional performer, I’ve always believed in the power of connection—and that’s exactly what I bring to my role at Budget Blinds. My focus is on building meaningful relationships in our community and helping grow the heart of our business from the inside out.
With more than a decade of experience in marketing and community engagement, I specialize in creating authentic connections that help our team thrive and our neighbors feel truly at home with us. I’m also the proud owner of a business supporting seniors and families as an end-of-life doula and aging companion, work that has deepened my commitment to compassionate service and thoughtful presence.
I’m an active member of the New Albany community (you’ve probably seen me around—look for the blue and purple hair!), and I never meet a stranger. I’m also a proud cat mom to Walt and June, who keep things lively at home.
At Budget Blinds, I believe our success starts with people—our team, our customers, and our community. I’m here to help us grow in all the ways that matter most: with integrity, kindness, and a whole lot of heart.

Milo and Madi
Chief Paw-sitivity Officers
Oh hai hoomans! We’re Madi (the “big sis” golden floof, age 4) and Milo (the baby bro pupper). We run the Paw-sitivity department here at Budget Blinds—testing all the blinds, shades, and draperies for maximum pupper-friendliness.
When we’re not inspecting window treatments, you’ll catch us:
🐾 Swimming until our paws are pruney
🐾 Barking at everything (we’re excellent squirrel security)
🐾 Zooming through curtains to test their swish-factor
🐾 Shredding cardboard samples for quality control
🐾 Rolling over for belly rubs while supervising installsWe make sure:
✅ Blinds can handle a good nose-boop for prime squirrel-watching
✅ Draperies flutter perfectly during a zoomie sprint
✅ Shades stay stylish even with golden fur glitter
✅ And yes—our blinds are so strong they’ve survived Milo’s teething “chew toy” testIf your windows need blinds that can survive barks, naps in sunbeams, and a puppy-approved durability check, you’re in the right place. Paw-sitively the best blinds around!
