The Best Window Coverings for a Sunroom

Spring has sprung! Which usually means your focus changes from what is happening inside, to what’s happening outside. You’ve spent all winter hunkered down inside to keep warm from our Washington weather, but now it’s time to throw off those layers and step into the Snohomish sunshine. The Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful areas in our country, we are so blessed to have such beauty around us. That’s why we came up with some of our favorite window treatment recommendations for your sunroom this spring and summer. This way, you can soak in the great outdoors, from the comfort of your Mukilteo home.

Plantation Shutters

One of our all-time favorite sunroom options, are Plantation Shutters. This type of window treatment fits perfectly in a sunroom because the sunroom is meant to let in sun (obviously). Plantation Shutters are permanent structures that are adjustable to allow light through while still blocking out some rays to shield you from glare. When closed all the way, they create a private space when needed. Not only are they durable and easy to clean, they can also add value to your Everett home if you ever move in the future.

Sheer Shades

Just as the name states, Sheer Shades are sheer, meaning they are not ideal for privacy. However, they are ideal for letting in a great deal of light through their transparent fabric while reducing glare to help block out harmful UV rays that can damage your floors and furnishings. Sheer Shades are perfect for the light, airy feel to the room while still being elegant and classy.

Solar Shades

Solar Shades are an effective option for the sun, hence their name, “solar”. These shades block out UV rays and block out any sun glare, but they tend to also block out a little more light then the sheer shades. Because of this, they are great when you want your room to cool down, especially if you have large windows. These are a great option for when you want to enjoy the sunroom while catching up on emails or working on your laptop, enabling you to see the screen.  These can easily be paired with Sheer Shades or light Drapes, to allow you to have more lighting options.

Woven Wood Shades

Woven Wood Shades are perfect for the sunroom since they are not heavily insulated and do not prohibit the sun from entering even when closed. Made from renewable resources like bamboo and jute, these “green” eco-friendly window treatments add an organic appeal to your Mill Creek home. This is the perfect opportunity to use the Top Down Bottom Up feature, allowing you to raise and lower the shades from both the top and the bottom. This means you can block out sun rays from shining in your eyes, without making the room too dark.
