Spread the Warmth

We invited the community to help us Spread the Warmth and collect warm winter children's clothing to donate to the Medicine Hat Women's Shelter Society. We welcomed Hatters to help us with this initiative by doing the following: purchase cellular shades and we would donate a piece of clothing on their behalf, visit our design centre with a donation of their own, or spread the word on social media. With their generosity we were able to collect 91 coats & snowsuits, 40 socks & slippers, 51 hats & toques, 43 gloves & mittens and 24 under garments. Over and above donations of winter clothing, we received over $13,000 in donations from community members and our HFC corporate office, this was then matched by the shelter's Legacy Program.

Medicine Hat Mavericks

We are proud to sponsor the Medicine Hat Mavericks Baseball Club! From game-day sponsorship, the annual patio party for Budget Blinds families, friends and customers, to sponsored signage in the outfield. Their club promotes all levels of baseball development, mentoring young athletes to help develop local baseball players and more importantly develops good citizens. Supporting the Mavericks is one of our favorite ways to invest in our local community. We are privileged to stand alongside the Mavericks for 10+ years.

Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat

We are proud to support the Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat! Owner, Jamie Graham had been a member of the Kinsmen Club for 19 years! We never miss an opportunity to support and sponsor the incredible work put forward by this club, from the popular home lotto, dinner/auction fundraiser, stampede car award, to various other community events. We are honoured to stand beside them and their work in our community while raising much needed funds for other local organizations.

Basics for Babies

We are huge supports of Mr. Lube and the incredible work they do to serve our community! We are happy to support their annual Mr. Lube Basics for Babies campaign in support of the Medicine Hat & District Food Bank. The food bank gives out over 50,000 diapers per year. Every child deserves to have their basic needs met. Alongside other local community members and businesses, we were thrilled to show our support by dropping off supplies to assist young families in need of assistance with the 'Basics for Babies'!

Teampon Medicine Hat

Teampon is a group of community members committed to ending period poverty in Medicine Hat. This annual drive for menstrual products supporting the Medicine Hat & District Food Bank was started by the students at Medicine Hat College, this social media challenge campaign supports those that must choose to go without. We were challenged and happy to accept and complete that challenge. Owner, Jamie Graham was given a little taste of the monthly inconvenience that ladies face! He took it gracefully and went over and above with the addition of chocolates. We challenged three other community minded businesses to step up and make a donation for menstruation.

Mr. Lube Free Oil Change Day for Veterans

A local business, and dear friend of Budget Blinds of Medicine Hat/The Foothills honored our military with their annual FREE oil change day for current & veteran members of the Canadian & British Armed Forces! Along with many other local community members and businesses, we were thrilled to be on location volunteering our time for this amazing initiative, to show our appreciation to those who served! We greeted customers, served donuts and poured some oil (with supervision, of course!).

Canadian Winter Games

Co-owners, Dawn Cameron and John Atkinson, took a road trip to Red Deer in 2019 to check out the Canadian Winter Games. We were so proud to be there to represent and cheer on our fellow Albertans, as well as support a family friend (niece to another Canadian Budget Blinds franchisee!) from Team Ontario competing in Wheelchair Basketball.

Girl Guides of Canada

We LIKE cookies - but we LOVE to support the Girl Guides of Canada! Two marketing consultants in the making sold the team at Budget Blinds of Medicine Hat/The Foothills, four cases of chocolate mint cookies. We were proud to support an organization that empowers girls to take the lead, jump into awesome activities, make new friends and discover how they can make a difference in the world.

South Country Co-op Fuel Good Day

We were pumped to support the South Country Co-op Fuel Good Day in support of HALO Air Ambulance. The team at Budget Blinds filled up our entire fleet, playing our part to help keep HALO in the air. 5 cents per litre of fuel and $1 from any size Co-operative Coffee or Big Cool (slush) that day, went towards our regional air ambulance service. The annual Fuel Good Day has raised funds for 181+ charities and non-profits across western Canada.

Medicine Hat SPCA

Calories don’t count when it’s for a good cause, right?! We scooped up 2 dozen cupcakes from a local bakery, in support of the Medicine Hat SPCA. Over 1200 cupcakes were sold in one day to support the furkids at the shelter! We regularly drop off items in need to our local shelter when the organization reaches out to the community regarding their dwindling supplies - we’re happy to trade supplies for snuggles!

Medicine Hat Tigers Teddy Bear Toss

We had a great night out at the annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Medicine Hat News. Our team loaded up with teddy bears and winter gear and headed to the rink. When the Tigers scored their first goal of the night, we threw our items on the ice in celebration and in support of the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation. The following week, the boys in orange and black delivered the stuffies to kids at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
