St. Patrick’s Day Activities For The Kids

A little luck, leprechauns, shamrocks and a pot of gold, what’s not to love about St. Patrick’s Day? Every year on March 17th, we celebrate the Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a lot of green food. Keep your little leprechauns busy with festive kid-friendly activities the whole family can enjoy! Show your love for the holiday and all things green with these adorable creations. Here at Budget Blinds, we encourage you to get in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with a little luck of the Irish!

Shamrock Pretzel Pops

Looking for a sweet little treat for your kiddos that only takes 5 minutes? You’re in luck! These adorable shamrock pretzel pops are easy to make and children love them. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and assemble your pretzels into a clover shape. Add a Rolo to the center of each clover and bake for 3 minutes until the Rolo has started to melt. Carefully add a lollipop stick through the Rolo and place a green M&M in the center. Allow them to cool and enjoy!

Gold Hunt

Going on a treasure hunt, X marks the spot! Since leprechauns are always searching for gold, gather your kids and some of their friends for a gold hunt of their own. Hide several gold coins (you can use chocolate gold coins, toy coins or even pennies) around the house or yard. Divide everyone up into two teams and give them a pail to collect their coins. Send them off to find as much “gold” as possible in two minutes (or longer depending on how hard you hide them). When the time is up, have the teams count the coins in their pails and the team with the most coins wins!

Lucky Charm Treats

Check out these adorable Lucky Charms treats! The recipe is easy enough and it’s a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy. In a large saucepan melt butter on low heat and add mini marshmallows, stirring until completely melted. Add Lucky Charms cereal and stir until well coated. Using parchment paper, evenly press mixture into 1”-2” pan that is coated in cooking spray. Top with extra individual Lucky Charms marshmallows as desired. Let cool and cut into bars to serve!

Easy Dot Rainbow

Get colorful with this easy dot rainbow craft! Grab a paper punch to cut out circles of all different colored papers. Have your kids draw a rainbow with crayons on a white piece of paper. With a glue stick, have your little ones glue colorful circles across their rainbows. Stretch out some cotton and “ta-da”, you have clouds! They will be so proud to hang this in their room or share with friends.

Beaded Shamrocks

With colorful beads and some pipe cleaners, your kids can create these festive beaded shamrocks! In addition to creativity, beading allows children to work on their fine motor skills. Math can even come into the equation through patterns, colors, and counting. Have fun beading!

Everyone here at Budget Blinds hopes you get in the Irish spirit with these kid-friendly St. Patrick’s Day activities that will leave your kids feeling lucky!
