Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds, ideal for sliding or patio doors, offer both privacy and light control. They align with the door's direction, are durable, and easy to maintain. Available in various colors, materials like PVC, wood (US only), or fabric, and styles including textured, smooth, or S-shaped slats, vertical blinds can match your home's décor and enhance privacy and light blocking.

Vertical Cellular Shades

Vertical Cellular Shades are ideal for temperature control in rooms with patio doors. Their honeycomb-shaped fabric provides insulation, keeping rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter, with vertical pleats suited for patio doors. These shades offer a clear view when collapsed to the side and can be customized in width for full door coverage. They offer a modern look with easy side-to-side operation, available in various opening styles like left, right, split stack, or center stack.

Curtains & Drapery

Custom curtains or draperies are perfect for those who prefer classic style over specialty features for sliding glass doors. They add softness and can camouflage the door if desired. Available in various patterns, prints, and colors, these curtains can be tailored to your existing décor. For additional light or heat control, consider adding a blackout or thermal lining.

Tips for Choosing a Window Treatment For Your Sliding Glass Door

  • Since sliding doors open horizontally, we suggest choosing a window treatment that slides left to right.
  • Wood Blinds, Faux Wood Blinds, Roman Shades, and Woven Wood Shades may cover the top of a sliding door opening when fully raised due to their large stack, making it difficult for taller persons to use the doorway without ducking.
  • Roller shades and sheer shades have a smaller stack but still need to be fully raised above the window every time you want to open your door. This can be a hassle if the door is used daily.
  • If you already have a custom window treatment around the room, we recommend choosing a treatment that coordinates well with the existing treatment, either in a complementary or cohesive way.
